NSML Hosts Induction Ceremony for 30 MAN Oron Cadets Under the NSML-MCOE Seafarers Continuous Development Program (SCDP)

NSML hosted an induction ceremony for thirty (30) cadets from the Maritime Academy of Nigeria (MAN), Oron, under its Maritime Centre of Excellence (MCOE) Seafarers Continuous Development Program (SCDP). The event held on Friday, 20th February 2026, and marks a significant milestone in the partnership between NSML and MAN Oron to strengthen maritime capacity development in Nigeria.

The programme stems from the collaborative agreement signed in December 2025, which formalised NSML’s commitment to providing structured, high-quality training designed to prepare cadets for practical and international maritime operations; and the cadets will benefit from NSML’s long-standing expertise in developing competent, safety conscious, and globally competitive seafarers.

Speaking at the ceremony, the MD/CEO of NSML, Abdulkadir Ahmed reiterated NSML’s strategic vision to position the Maritime Centre of Excellence as a premier training institution offering globally certified and mandatory programmes required for career development and nurturing the next generation of talent in the maritime industry. He emphasized that the partnership with MAN Oron reflects a shared belief in the importance of investing in human capital as a foundation for a sustainable maritime sector.

The induction ceremony brought together members of the NSML leadership team, representatives of MAN Oron, the MCOE team, representatives of the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, key government agencies, key maritime stakeholders and the newly admitted cadets. 

The event celebrated the strengthening of collaborative efforts to enhance Nigeria’s maritime competence and global competitiveness.
