NSML organised a stakeholders engagement session for its “Clean Waterways Initiative”campaign on 5th July 2023 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The “Clean Waterways Initiative” campaign is NSML’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) to highlight the effects of plastics, debris, and other litters in the waterways in Nigeria.
The event provided a unique opportunity for stakeholders to discuss the issue of maritime pollution occasioned by harmful waste management practices and the need to come up with deliberate strategies to stem the tide. The plenary session, anchored by the MD/CEO of Tsachal Limited, had participants drawn from NIMASA, NIWA, Rivers State Ministry of Environment andNSML, provided an opportunity to highlight proactive steps to deal with the issue decisively.
The highlight of the event was the sign-off of the “NSML Clean Waterways Initiative” Charter by all stakeholders at the event, indicating their commitment to ensuring the sustainable management of the water ways in their respective areas of operation.
The event was attended by Management and staff of NSML, NLNG as well as representatives from NIMASA, Rivers State Ministry of Environment, Rivers State Inland Waterway, StockgapFuels, C&I Leasing, Bonny Channel Company (BCC), and representatives from the hostcommunities in Rivers State.
