NSML MD parleys with the media

On Thursday, 8th April 2021, the Managing Director of NLNG Ship Management Limited (NSML), Mr. Abdulkadir Ahmed, met with journalists covering the maritime industry in the Company’s first media engagement.

At the engagement, Mr. Ahmed briefed the media on the operations of NSML and its contribution to the development of the Nigerian maritime industry. Mr. Ahmed said NSML was the largest employer of Nigerian seafarers in the country. He added that the Company is driving a Nigerianisation policy that has achieved 83% in the number of Nigerian seafarers working aboard its managed vessels.

The NSML Managing Director also spoke to NSML and its parent company’s contribution in building capacity in the industry through longstanding support of the Maritime Academy of Nigeria (MAN), Oron, and the Maritime Centre of Excellence (MCOE).

He stated NSML’s care for the environment drives its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, which targets a cleaner marine environment free from plastics, debris, and other maritime litters. He said: “The scope of coverage will be NSML’s primary areas of operation (AOP) which includes the NLNG Terminal in Bonny, as well as the ISB/OSB Jetty in Port-Harcourt. The plan is to ensure the proper clean-up and maintenance of the waterways at these AOPs; while extending the initiative in subsequent years to the inland waterways in Rivers State; and subsequently the national space.”
