NLNG Ship Management Limited (NSML) and the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the planning, training, and delivery of maritime related courses at the Nigerian Navy Simulation Centre (NNSC) of the NDA. The MoU also defines the relationship framework for technical, academic, and commercial collaboration between both organisations, the utilisation of the world class MCOE training facilities in Bonny Island and the expertise, competence and knowledge of the resource personnel of the MCOE.
The event was held at the NDA campus in Kaduna, Kaduna State on Monday, 21st March 2022.
Speaking at the epoch making and landmark event, the MD/CEO of NSML, Abdulkadir Kere Ahmed, said the ceremony was in tandem with NLNG and NSML’s vision of “helping to build a better Nigeria and supporting the growth and development of the Nigerian maritime industry through knowledge transfer, skills and capacity development; as well as the strategic collaboration with relevant stakeholders”; and expressed his commitment to ensuring the purposes of the MoU are realised. Ahmed further reiterated the need to ensure a mutually beneficial working relationship between both organisations, beyond the MoU, for the overall
benefit of the nation in the development of the maritime sector.
Responding, the Commandant of the NDA, Major General I.M. Yusuf expressed his
appreciation to the NSML team for the excellent collaboration with the NNSC personnel, via training and capacity development at the MCOE in Bonny earlier in the year and looks forward to taking the relationship forward, from just signing the MoU, to developing prompt and implementable key action items for both organisations. He stated his commitment to ensuring the development of capacity at the NNSC, and enjoined NSML to assist in achieving that objective.
The MoU signing ceremony was witnessed by the Principal Staff Officers, academic and non-academic staff of NDA, and NSML personnel from the MCOE and Business Development & Strategy teams.
The NSML team was taken on a tour of the impressive facilities of the Cadets and Postgraduate campuses of the Academy, after the signing ceremony.
